Note: This is a minimum recommended configuration. If you purchase a computer, it ideally should last you through your tenure at Nazareth. Your personal preferences and specific academic requirements may vary from the recommendation.
CHROMEBOOKS and Tablets: Despite their attractive price point, Information Technology Services currently DOES NOT recommend Chromebooks or Ipad/Android tablets as your primary computing device as they have limited capabilities relative to a Windows PC or Macintosh particularly with regard to online exam and other applications.
If cost is a concern, please note there are options for purchasing refurbished laptops through Dell Refurbished ( see below) and other national outlets. You may also wish to check with local computer stores in your area. There are solid options for PC laptops that are comparably priced to a Chromebook or Ipad/Android tablet.
Recommended Computer Applications
- Internet Browser: Current versions of Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Safari (Mac)
- Security: An antivirus/anti-malware program
- Productivity Software: Microsoft 365 is available free of charge for Nazareth University students
You may purchase additional discounted software online from outlets such as:
