How to Clear Cache on Internet Browser

Overview

Depending on the situation, you may experience some issues with a website that can be fixed by clearing the cache. This article shows you exactly how to do that for all of our recommended Internet browsers.

 

Recommended Browsers

  • Google Chrome (Windows/Mac)
  • Firefox (Windows/Mac)
  • Safari (Mac)
  • Microsoft Edge (Windows)

Please note that we do not recommend using any other browsers besides the ones listed above. The recommended browsers are frequently updated with the latest virus protection and have a lower number of compatibility issues.

 

Google Chrome

  1. At the top right, click More button (three vertical dots next to user profile image)
  2. Click Clear browsing data.
  3. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  4. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  5. Click Clear data.

For Windows: You may also press the "Control" + "Shift" + "Delete" keys at the same time as a shortcut to clear your cache.

For Mac: You may also press the "Command" + "Shift" + "Delete" keys at the same time as a shortcut to clear your cache.

 

Firefox

  1. Click the menu button (three vertical lines) and select Settings.
  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.
  3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data
  4. Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data.
  5. With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.
  6. Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.

For Windows: You may also press the "Control" + "Shift" + "Delete" keys at the same time as a shortcut to clear your cache.

For Mac: You may also press the "Command" + "Shift" + "Delete" keys at the same time as a shortcut to clear your cache.

 

Safari

  1. Select Safari > Preferences...
  2. Click the Privacy tab and select Manage Website Data...
  3. Select a website that is listed, then click Remove. To remove all website data from Safari, click Remove All.

 

Microsoft Edge

  1. Select Menu (3 dots icon on top right corner of the browser) > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
  2. Under Clear browsing data, select the Choose what to clear button.
  3. Make sure "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data" are check marked and then select Clear.

You may also press the "Control" + "Shift" + "Delete" keys at the same time as a shortcut to clear your cache.
