Overview

This article explain how students can access Echo360 videos and associated transcripts connected to their Moodle courses. Additional information about Echo360 can be found on the Echo360 Resource Site.

USER TIP: Echo360 functionality can be impacted by the use of certain web browsers.  Google Chrome is the recommended web browser for accessing Moodle and Echo360!

If your instructor has enabled live-streaming of class sessions through Echo360, these instructions outline the basic access process for students.

Getting Started - The Basics

To access Echo360, the easiest way is to log into Moodle and select your course. On the Moodle course page, you will see an icon with a left facing play button. There may be text next to it such as "Echo360" or "Echo360 Videos." The text may change depending on whether your instructor has edited it.

Below is the Echo360 Course Page that should appear when you click the link from Moodle.

  1. Name and section of the course

  2. Sort By drop down menu

  3. Video titles

  4. Gray video icon - Video has been viewed; Green video icon - Video has not been viewed

The Courses view page can be displayed when you click Courses in the upper left corner of the menu bar. This will display any courses in which you have been or are registered where there is Echo360 content.

A. Title of the Course

B. Year and Semester of Course (top) and Course Section (bottom)

C. Number of Course Videos

When you click anywhere inside the course box, it will open to the Echo360 course page.

Viewing Audio Transcripts

To view the audio transcripts of a video that has been recorded, you first need to select the video you wish to view. From the welcome page, click into one of the classes that has video content available for you to watch.

When you click into a class, you will see a list that denotes a video for a class. If there is a video button on the right side of the title, that means there is a video available to view. Click anywhere in the cell of the title to open the video.

This recorded lecture has two video screens. One is a view of the classroom (Left) and the second is a view of the computer screen (Right) the instructor is using. This may change depending on your instructor and the classroom.

In the upper right corner, you will see an icon with a speaker symbol and notepad. This is the button to display the audio transcription.

The audio transcript will appear to the right of the video in a panel. When the instructor is speaking, the text will be highlighted in yellow to easily display what is being said.

*Note: The audio transcripts are not available for download.*
